What does support entail?

It means that the employee has strong support thoughout the process of identifying and gaining a suitable job. Once employed, a support plan is developed to include the employee and the supervisor so that the employee understands fully the requirements of the position and their responsibility to it.

The supported employment process

This three-step process is designed to support people to find employment where their effectiveness and employment terms are maximised. This process provides considerable benefits to both employer and employee.

Stage 1
The assessment process identifies jobseekers, career possibilities, generic work skills, stamina etc, ensuring a satisfying position, which will allow the worker to perform to their maximum efficiency.

Stage 2
This involves working alongside the jobseeker to apply for and secure appropriate work.

Stage 3
The support stage is the component of supported employment, which enables the worker to maintain high levels of performance, and a longer term of employment. Support is provided for the supervisor and co workers as well as the worker.
